NOTD: Basket Weave Nails

Baskets, such under appreciated things they are. Look closely at them and you'd realise the distinct weave  each basket has. Basket weaves may look complicated but they are easy and fun to do with a little practice. I did mine in under 5 minutes!

It's perfect for a spring look! Switching to pastel colours would create a great look for Easter!

Steps:
1. Just paint your nails with a base colour of your choice.
2. With a striping brush, create a thin line diagonally across the nail. Carry on drawing thin parallel lines. Repeat process but change the direction of the stripes.

NOTD: Ombre Frenchies!

Ombre nails! Using different colours of the same family to create a gradient like effect. Combined this great trend with a french manicure for an edgy twist. Perfect for spring or summer or whenever you feel like looking extra chic ;)

Steps:
1. Paint nails a taupe/nude/neutral colour. Allow time for nails to dry completely.
2. Using manicure tape/scotch tape as a guide, paint each tip a different shade of red. Play with up with the neon /pastel trend for this spring!
3. Seal in with top coat!

NOTD: Spring Dots

When I think of spring, I picture fresh flowers by the roadside, fresh spring air and the warm glow of the sun. This design was inspired by little flowers dotting roadsides during spring ;)

Nail art really doesn't get much easier than this. Just pick a light colour as your base, add dots of different colours clustered at the base of your nail. Pastel colours will be HUGE this season! So, I picked pastel colours for the dots to resemble little flowers.

Tutorial: Tribal Triangles

Tribal nails have been the "it thing" for quite awhile. Loving them is one thing, but creating those intricate details is a whole different story. Not only would you need time, but also lotsa skill and tools. But fret not; here's an easy alternative! Just play around with earth tone colours to create other combinations. Feel free to add dots and lines to spice it up! ;)
sorry about the flawed proportions, my nails broke!

Runway Inspired: Checkered Nails

Spring is coming! This checkered manicure was spotted on the runway of Nicole Miller's Spring 2012 collection. Although this design may be simple to do, it's quite time consuming waiting in between layers to dry. Nevertheless, it's a striking manicure without much effort or skill needed! Just lots of PATIENCE.

Oh fashion shows; don't we all wish we could have front row seats? ;)

Steps:
1. Paint entire nail fuchsia/bright pink.
2. After it has COMPLETELY DRIED, use cellophane/scotch tape to cover the nail till only a quarter is exposed. Paint it deep blue (I opted for black).
3. When Step 2 dries, again with the help of the tape, paint another quarter diagonally opposite the previous one to create the checkered look.
4. Orientation of the tape is entirely up to you as long as it serves as a guide to create the precise shape.

Note: Make sure the nail polish is TOTALLY dry before putting any tape on it.
